The first project completed at Loloi was an overhaul of their identity. I started from scratch, generating multiple series of sketches for the logo and eventually came to the stylized L. The idea derived from the essential item to make a rug, a thread. The two lines interplay together to form a weaving of two threads. I went with a square format as a differentiator. The large red block stood out among the crowd. The tag-like effect was utilized throughout all materials.
LETTERPRESS | PRINT DESIGN
I run and operate a 12x18 Kluge letterpress. The machine weighs about 2 tons and is an absolute monster. Below you can see the press and some of the projects that I have designed and printed.
The 2015 annual report for Baylor Annette C. and Harold C. Simmons Transplant Institute. The goal was to focus on the donors, and to stand out in the crowd of reports. The cover was designed with that in mind. The line work connects all of the icons together and represents how everything in transplant is connected. The cover has a die cut that once opened, reveals the title of the report "Connected for Life."
Baylor Research Institute

The Baylor Research Institute annual report had to communicate two key things. That they are at the forefront of the medical research world and that their research impacts lives. Throughout the printed report and the website we weaved in real patient stories that show how Baylor Research Institute impacts lives. The site was designed with "infographic" style side bars that pulled out some of the most notable points from the year. The printed report mimicked these side bars by making them half size spreads to draw attention to them.
This logo development employed the main idea of "I am the vine, you are the branches" as the concept. I drew inspiration from wrought iron designs and carried that forward to add some sophistication to the logo.

Various projects completed with Oncor. Including the Soy Oncor workbook directed towards middle school and early high schoolers as a goal oriented workbook. The book was themed around paper airplanes, and included a section about networking that consisted of the students making an airplane and an entire classroom of kids throwing them. Other items include, content development for Oncors newsroom, The Wire. Various infographics along with social media graphics were produced. As well as a complete takeover of Oncors online presence with Earth Month. All social media and online sources for Oncor were taken over by the green logo and illustration style below. Instead of just focusing on one, Earth Day, we utilized the month to develop a tip or fact for each day to post, 22 in total.

The Loloi website had to do two main things, show the rugs in the best way possible and make the user experience for B2B customers the best in the industry. The site focuses on large images to show the rug in full detail, including corner shots of every rug that reveal on hover. Something that had never been done in the industry. Customers could now get the most accurate depiction of the texture, pile height and color. The B2B purchasing experience was completely retooled. Up-to-date inventory, quick buy buttons and purchasing history were a few things that enhanced the experience. I focused on the quickest possible way from purchasing decision to checkout.
IDENTITY DESIGN | WEB DESIGN
Identity development for VAR Technology Finance was focused on a friendly/personal tone. I developed the pattern used throughout the materials as a differentiator and something that could be ownable. The pattern comes from the idea of binary code, nodding to technology. Personalized messages on the business cards and the friendlier copywriting helped reinforce the personal side of technology finance. The website was designed with those same ideas in mind. I developed a "Knowledge Center" that housed their blog posts and white papers and positions VAR as a thought leader in the industry.
A logo designed for a general contractor. Utilization of a flag element to signify "regalness." The crown also communicates "regalness" and represents building blocks utilized in construction. Components consisted of logo development, stationery and a temporary landing page. The landing page is a single scrolling page that employs a hammer to represent the general contractor industry. I wanted the hammer to have some character and show some wear, and what better hammer to use than my fathers personal hammer, that has seen plenty of action.
The Buffalo Parade

A Dallas area rock band was in some need of identity materials. I developed the literal interpretation of a stylized buffalo as the logo. The tri fold cd case was printed on my 12x18 Kluge letterpress. The 22pt chipboard is extra thick to give it some structure. The coasters were duplexed with a white backing and also printed and die cut on my Kluge.
